community service areas, general facilities, safety and security features, and the children’s area; WHEREAS, these enhancements would renew the branch, improve accessibility and functionality, enhance user safety, and provide an improved experience for library members of all ages; WHEREAS, the proposed upgrades would contribute to community learning, reduce ongoing maintenance requirements, and may reduce costs associated with security and disposable supplies through strategic capital and leasehold improvements; and, WHEREAS, the total estimated cost of the proposed improvements to the Barton Branch is $190,000. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: (a) That the Public and Community Service Enhancements at the Barton Branch, including furnishings, technology supports, and public‑use amenities be funded from the Ward 3 Capital Re-Investment Reserve #108053 at an upset limit, including contingency, not to exceed $18,000 be approved; (b) That the Facilities Enhancements at the Barton Branch, including flooring, shelving, ceiling tiles, painting, and exterior appearance improvements be funded from the Ward 3 Capital Re-Investment Reserve #108053 at an upset limit, including contingency, not to exceed $122,000 be approved; (c) That the Safety and Security Enhancements at the Barton Branch, including washroom upgrades and key‑scan access improvements be funded from the Ward 3 Capital Re-Investment Reserve #108053 at an upset limit, including contingency, not to exceed $20,000 be approved; (d) That the Children’s Area Upgrades at the Barton Branch, including interactive features, furnishings, and learning spaces be funded from the Ward 3 Capital Re-Investment Reserve #108053 at an upset limit, including contingency, not to exceed $30,000 be approved; and, (e) That the General Manager and City Clerk be authorized to execute any required agreement(s) and ancillary documents, with such terms and conditions in a form satisfactory to the City Solicitor.
