as Office Staff time to support the creation of a new Volunteer Operating Committee, which is now overseeing operation of the Gardens independent of the Ward 10 office; WHEREAS, the Stoney Creek Community Garden provides 4ft by 8ft garden plots at minimal cost to community members and organizations to grow and harvest their own fresh vegetables and herbs, enabling greater food security for the Hamilton residents; WHEREAS, the Stoney Creek Community Food Bank, which is located adjacent to the Garden, maintains approximately 30% of the total garden space in an effort to provide the fresh and nutritious produce to those most vulnerable in our community; and WHEREAS, the Volunteer Operating Committee has identified that the current configuration of the Garden poses accessibility challenges to some residents, and that 30 inch raised beds would allow more accessible access to potential plot holders. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: (a) That the costs associated with the purchase of two 30-inch raised beds to Stoney Creek Community Garden BE FUNDED from the Ward 10 Non-Property Tax Revenue Account #3301609610 at an upset limit, including contingency, not to exceed $650; (b) That any funds allocated and distributed to the Stoney Creek Community Garden, as a result of Recommendation (a), BE EXEMPT on a one-time basis and not counted toward any formula that restricts funding from the City, including the City Enrichment Fund; and Audit, Finance and Administration Committee May 28, 2026 Minutes AFA 26-007 Page 8 of 9 Refer to the June 3, 2026 Council Minutes for the disposition of these matters. (c) That the Mayor and City Clerk BE AUTHORIZED to execute any required agreements and ancillary documents, with such terms and conditions in a form satisfactory to the City Solicitor.
